Title VI Program

About Title VI

Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and related statutes states that each Federal agency is required to ensure that no person shall, on the ground of race, color, national origin, sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. The Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987 clarified the intent of Title VI to include all programs and activities of Federal-aid recipients, subrecipients and contractors whether those programs and activities are federally funded or not.
